AlienBees DIY Storage Container
After buying my first set of Alien Bee strobes, I wanted to protect them while shooting on-location, but with Pelican cases costing too much, and the Paul C. Buff cases not offering enough protection, I decided to make my own. Here's a step-by-step tutorial on how it's made:
Supplies
Bi Box Storage Container
11.3L/11.9QT
$5.97 at Walmart
Seat Cushion Foam
Set of 4 - $6.97 at Walmart
Exacto Knife
Used for cutting the foam
Ruler
Used for measuring and making straight cuts into the foam
Glue Gun
Used for gluing the foam into the container

STEP 1
CUT THE FOAM INTO THE FOLLOWING SIZES:
BOTTOM PIECE
10.75" LONG X 8" WIDE
LONG SIDES (2)
11.5" LONG X 5.75 WIDE
SHORT SIDES (2)
7" LONG BY 5.75" WIDE
LID
9.5" LONG X 6.5" WIDE
STEP 2
HOT GLUE THE BOTTOM PIECE IN FIRST

STEP 3
HOT GLUE THE LONGER SIDE PIECES IN
STEP 4
HOT GLUE THE SMALLER SIDE PIECES IN

STEP 5
HOT GLUE THE THE LAST PIECE ONTO THE INNER PART OF THE LID. MAKE SURE IT IS POSITIONED IN THE CENTER.

AND THAT'S IT! PLACE YOUR ALIEN BEE INSIDE THE CASE AND IT FITS PERFECTLY. AFTER YOU PLACE THE LID ON AND SNAP IT CLOSED, IT WILL NOT SLIDE AROUND. THESE CONTAINERS ARE STACKABLE TOO!
